A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for performing various nursing duties under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Their primary role is to provide basic medical care to patients in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and private homes. Some of the job duties of an LPN include recording and monitoring patients’ vital signs, administering medication and injections, maintaining accurate records of patients’ health information, collecting samples for laboratory testing, performing routine wound care, assisting with personal hygiene and grooming, and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans. Additionally, LPNs may also be responsible for educating patients and families about proper self-care techniques and managing chronic conditions. Overall, the goal of an LPN is to promote optimal health outcomes by delivering quality, evidence-based nursing care while ensuring patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Providing direct patient care, including assessing patient needs, developing care plans, implementing interventions, evaluating responses, and modifying care plans accordingly.
- Medication Administration: Administering prescribed medications according to established policies and procedures, documenting dosages, routes, and frequency accurately.
- Vital Sign Monitoring: Taking and recording vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, to monitor patients’ health statuses.
- Documentation: Maintaining up-to-date, accurate, and complete documentation on patients’ charts, communicating effectively with other healthcare providers regarding changes in condition, treatment plan modifications, and progress reports.
- Wound Care: Performing routine wound care, cleaning wounds, changing dressings, applying topical treatments, and reporting any signs of infection or complications.
- Specimen Collection: Collecting specimens for laboratory testing, following standard precautions to prevent contamination, labeling specimens correctly, and transporting them safely to the laboratory.
- Collaborative Practice: Working collaboratively with other healthcare providers, such as physicians, registered nurses, social workers, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Education: Educating patients and families about disease processes, self-care strategies, medication regimens, and community resources, promoting health literacy and empowerment.
- Safety: Ensuring patient safety by adhering to protocols related to fall prevention, restraints, isolation, and emergency response.
- Professionalism: Upholding ethical principles, legal standards, and regulatory requirements governing nursing practice, engaging in ongoing learning and development opportunities, and demonstrating accountability for actions taken within the scope of practice.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice.
- Completed graduation from an accredited practical nurse program.

- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
