What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice RN On Call Nurse 7 on, 7 off position at Preferred Hospice?
We are a well-established hospice company looking to add to our growing team!! Preferred Hospice has 5 offices across the state of Missouri covering over 65 counties total.
We are currently looking for a Full Time RN to fill an On-Call position for the east side of Missouri. The ideal candidate will live within the service area of the Farmington office. They will field calls for 3 offices, responding physically to only those within the Farmington region. They will triage all calls and have other nurses available to make any visits outside of their main location.
This position is salary, 7 on, 7 off, from Monday 5pm through the next Monday at 8am, providing call coverage when the office is closed each night and on the weekend. They will be on call every other week. On their "off week" they will work 10 to 20 hours in their home office during the day making regular visits and possibly helping with admissions. Pay is a set salary regardless of hours worked, plus mileage reimbursement (recent increase in mileage company-wide!).
DUTIES:
Hospice nurses see patients in private homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and anywhere a patient calls home.
Hospice nurses are on call when the office is closed and respond timely to calls and concerns from patients, families, and facilities. On-call visits are to be made by the nurse when clinically indicated or requested by the caller.
The hospice nurse provides symptom management and skilled care to patients facing terminal illnesses, and provides emotional support and education on death and dying.
The hospice nurse supervises LPNs and CNAs, monitors medication lists, assesses for DME needs, provides wound care and other treatments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must be currently licensed in the State of Missouri as an RN and live with in a commutable distance to Farmington.
Willing to train the right candidate. A gentle, loving heart is a must. Must be able to provide love and support to patients and families facing a terminal illness. Must be able to work as a team player and represent our company well in the community.
Computer and smart phone skills for EMR charting, email, apps for mileage computation, etc.
The offices are open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Reliable transportation and car insurance required.
