Preferred Sands of Genoa, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Industrial Packaging Technician to join our team for a night shift position (Monday-Friday, 10 hour shifts). This role is responsible for operating a computer/PLC-controlled bagging system to efficiently fill bags with sand and turf products. The position also involves forklift operation and requires adherence to OSHA safety regulations while coordinating with an adjacent MSHA facility. Attention to detail is critical to ensure proper bag weights, system functionality, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor a computer/PLC-controlled bagging system to fill and package sand and turf products with precision.
- Ensure accurate bag weights, proper sealing, and quality control standards to maintain product consistency.
- Safely operate a forklift to transport materials and finished products within the facility.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on bagging and packaging equipment.
- Carefully follow all OSHA safety protocols and procedures while working in compliance with MSHA regulations as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
- Conduct detailed equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Prior experience operating computer/PLC-controlled packaging equipment preferred.
- Forklift certification is a plus, however the company will provide training on all equipment on site.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards; knowledge of MSHA regulations is a plus.
- Must be comfortable with basic computer skills for operating and troubleshooting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in packaging, equipment operation, and quality control.
- Must be available to work a consistent night shift schedule (Monday–Friday, 10-hour shifts).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial setting.
