Summary:
The Prefix Estimator reviews client RFQs and other project details gathered from clients and prospects by the Business Development team. The estimator will analyze the associated CAD data, design renderings, specifications, and other details to apply their knowledge of manufacturing methods, build techniques, Prefix internal capabilities and process to accurately identify costs. Then, organizing the information into a formal quote / proposal for the client. Concepts and prototypes for Industry segments including: Automotive, Aviation, and/or Entertainment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Cost Estimation
- Responsible for analyzing project requirements, specifications and scope of work to determine accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data for estimation.
- Consider cost of materials, labor, equipment, and additional resources required to meet the project objectives.
- Computes cost factors and prepares quotes for project planning, team organizing, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Time Management
- Develop detailed project timelines in coordination with Program Managers and Engineering teams.
- Identify critical path elements and potential bottlenecks in the project schedule.
- Monitor progress and assist with WCR revisions with Project Management team.
Resource Allocation
- Evaluate the availability and suitability of internal and external resources for each project.
Risk Assessment
- Identify potential risks that may affect the project timeline and/or budgets.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of estimation data, project timelines, and resource allocation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in project estimation, preferably in a prototype or similar business.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using excel, estimation software, and related tools.
- Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of the Business Development team.
