The role of the Tour Motorcoach Driver is to provide safe transportation for guests and their luggage throughout the interior of Alaska. Tour Motorcoach Drivers are responsible for all aspects involving the operation of the motorcoach. Tour Motorcoach Drivers share the responsibility with the Tour Director of ensuring a safe, fun, and informative tour experience for guests traveling to Alaska. Tour Motorcoach Drivers also have the responsibility to provide safe and on-time transportation for guests arriving and departing the Fairbanks International Airport.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A Tour Motorcoach Driver's duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the safe operation of the motorcoach throughout Alaska and Yukon territory
- Provide safety information to guests in regards to the motorcoach and ensure the safety of all passengers
- Loading and unloading luggage from the motorcoach storage areas
- Assisting Tour Directors by sharing regional specific commentary with tour guests
- Assisting guests as they embark and disembark the motorcoach
- Maintaining all required Department of Transportation paperwork on a daily basis, including Vehicle Inspection Report and Driver Log Book
- Maintain interior/exterior cleanliness of motorcoach, including restrooms
- Perform maintenance on the motorcoach while on the road away from Operations staff
- The Tour Motorcoach Drivers' primary responsibility is SAFETY. Drivers are required to be punctual and professional
- Complete other tasks as assigned by Operations staff
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for a Transfer Driver position:
- 21 years of age or older by May 1 of the year for which applying
- Successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and just cause drug & alcohol testing
- Possess a valid state commercial drivers license.
- Must be able to handle baggage and able to lift 50 - 75 pounds repeatedly
- Must be a U.S. citizen or able to provide verification of authorization to work in the U.S.
- Successfully complete a driver training program and pass all associated tests
- Possess knowledge and thorough understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- A current Commercial Drivers License (Class B) with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements is required
- A minimum of 2 years motorcoach driving experience in Alaska is preferred
