SUMMARY
The Aquatics Program Manager at Saddleback College plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Premier Swim Academy Learn to Swim Program. Responsibilities include overseeing program operations, supervising the swim instructor staff, and ensuring staffing needs are met efficiently. Additionally, the Program Manager will provide dedicated customer service to participants as needed. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day management of swim instructor staff
- Provide customer service to participants and/or guardians
- Communicate any needs of the program to the Training & Curriculum Director
- Coordinate with Saddleback College staff for facilities sharing
- Carry out Deck Manager responsibilities
- Approve swim student graduations
- Interact with parents/guardians
- Be proactive in providing customer service
- Evaluate and provide direct feedback to swim instructor staff
- Document all feedback on OneTeam360
- Enforce Premier employment policies for swim instructor staff
- Write and manage schedules and payroll
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
- Prior aquatic management experience (1-2 years)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a StarGuard Elite Lifeguard certification
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain a warm and welcoming environment to new staff to make them feel welcome to the team
- Receptive to feedback from supervisors, peers, and direct reports
- Willingness to adapt to changes in work environment, ability to function well in a high-paced environment and be comfortable with ambiguity
- Ability to have difficult but needed conversations with trainees when performance is lacking
- Eagerness and initiative to self-conduct workload without constant reminders and supervision
Physical Requirements
- Ability to teach swim lessons in the water for up to 8 hours
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job and to move or lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water
- May be exposed to prolonged periods of being outdoors
