Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and physical examinations to determine the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including medication administration and injections as needed.
- Perform venipuncture for blood draws and intravenous access when necessary.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures.
- Assist in critical care transport, ensuring the safety and stability of patients during transit.
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy and emergency protocols to provide effective treatment.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care for patients.
- Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed records of treatments provided.
- Manage durable medical equipment (DME) effectively to support patient needs during emergencies.
- Provide support in urgent care situations, demonstrating quick decision-making skills.
Qualifications
- Certification as an EMT-Basic from an accredited program is required.
- Experience in a hospital or urgent care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and emergency medical procedures is essential.
- Familiarity with critical care transport protocols is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and administer medications safely.
- Experience administering injections is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are crucial.
- Must be able to pass any required background checks or certifications as mandated by local regulations.
