Job Description
Premier Dermatology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant and Front desk receptionist to join our remarkable team!
Our ideal candidate is team-oriented, reliable, and possesses excellent multitasking skills. We are a growing 6 provider practice specializing in general medical and surgical dermatology.
Front Desk Responsibilities
Checking Patients In: verify address, phone numbers and insurance on existing patients, enter guarantor and patient information on all new patients, scan Drivers ‘ licenses, insurance cards into medical billing, review all paperwork on new patients to assure that everything is complete and signed, collect copays, deductibles, and any amounts patient account representative has deemed patient responsibility (patients with no insurance must pay up front);
Checking Patients Out: schedule follow-up appointments, collect any payments, copays or deductibles not already taken, print work/school excuses.
General Office Duties: answer phones and forward calls accordingly, schedule appointments over phone, mail letters and reports prepared by physicians, mail no-show letters and medical records as needed, deal with drug reps, stamp and prepare mail for pickup, print encounter forms for next day of service

General Medical Assistant Responsibilities Include
- Escort patient to and from exam room and help patient prepare for exam
- Take patient’s vitals when requested by provider
- Administer local anesthetic - subcutaneous
- Assisting physician with clinical/surgical procedures
- Setting up biopsy trays
- Preparing and cleaning medical instruments
- Clean and straighten exam rooms for patient encounters
- Obtaining and documenting relevant patient history
- Assist provider during exam and accurately scribe for provider into electronic health record
- Assisting physician with general patient care
- Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
- Inventory
- Communicating the physician’s plan to the patients
- Occasionally fielding phone calls, informing patient of their lab or pathology results
- Prior authorizations and prescription medication refills
- Informing patients about proper and available treatments
- Educating patients about preventative skin care
- Prepare syringes
- Assist with injectable procedures
- Remove sutures
- Ensure completion of appropriate forms
- Prepare pathology and lab specimens
- Maintain accurate pathology log
- Respond to patient questions as instructed
- Work in compliance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogen standards
- Knowledge and compliance with HIPAA standards
- Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies
- Order, sort, re-stock, and inventory all medical supplies
- Miscellaneous position related duties as assigned
- Assist with Mohs skin cancer surgery
- Assist with biologics
- Ability to work as part of a team – cover when coworkers are out and assisting where needed
