Hours: Varies depending on scheduling. Hours are 7:30 – 4:30 or 5:00.
Position Summary:
Provide courteous, efficient, and professional medical care to meet the needs of the patient. This includes assessing patient needs and relaying them to the provider to ensure the best patient care possible and to enable the clinic to function as effectively as possible. This also includes making sure the patient understands the treatment prescribed and instructions given. This position can be assigned as a nurse/MA following a provider or a nurse/MA rooming patients depending on staffing needs.
Typical Physical Demands of Job:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and occasionally lifting patients. Lifting up to 50 pounds, but not limited to that amount. Requires standing, stooping, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally requires working extended hours. Working Conditions:
Exposure to biohazard materials. Personal protective equipment provided by the employer are goggles, disposable gowns, latex gloves, masks, fume guards. On site are emergency eye wash stations, Hepatitis B Vaccine (as needed), biohazard waste control, and infection control. Duties and Responsibilities: (These are the duties specific to the role you are assigned in our clinic, however, they are all included as any clinic staff member can be called upon to perform these duties.)
- Assist the providers with procedure and treatments as directed.
- Bring the patients back to rooms and obtain chief complaint and history of present illness.
- Update medical history, review of systems, allergies and medications.
- Prepare the patient for the office visit.
- Chart for the provider if you are in the role of provider nurse and assist with office visit as directed.
- Write prescriptions for patients as directed by the provider.
- Distribute patient information as needed and assist the patient in understanding their medical care and instructions.
- Set up surgical and biopsy trays and assist as needed.
- Clean and set up rooms after patient visit is complete.
- Stock rooms and supply areas.
- Clean and sterilize instruments as needed.
- Fill liquid nitrogen containers each morning upon arrival.
- Help with laundry, general cleaning, and red bag trash as needed.
- Maintain equipment quality control measures, i.e. autoclave, refrigerator, freezer, piccolo, etc.
- Document all pertinent information on lab results in appropriate areas to comply with CLIA.
- Collect bloodwork and assist with biopsies as ordered and follow to completion.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend yearly OSHA, HIPAA, and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
- Abide by HIPAA regulations in all aspects of patient care.
- Abide by all general policies as stated in Employee Handbook.
