Utility Installer – New Construction
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Utility Installer to join our construction team. The Utility Installer is responsible for the installation of underground and aboveground utilities for new residential, commercial, and industrial developments. This includes water, sewer, storm drainage, gas, electric, and communication lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps.
- Safely operate construction equipment such as trenchers, excavators, skid steers, and compactors.
- Install underground piping, conduits, cables, and utility systems according to project specifications and local codes.
- Perform trenching, backfilling, and grading work.
- Set utility structures such as manholes, vaults, meters, transformers, and pedestals.
- Collaborate with project managers, inspectors, and utility companies to coordinate installations.
- Ensure job site safety through adherence to OSHA standards and company policies.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Document work performed and assist with as-built records.
- Troubleshoot and repair installed utility lines when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certifications a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in utility installation or related construction work.
- Knowledge of underground utility construction methods and best practices.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal construction and safety regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in trenches, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
