Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Tax Manager to join our team supporting privately held businesses across a diverse range of industries. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in a client-focused environment and is skilled in tax planning, compliance, and advisory for closely held entities and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of tax engagements for privately held businesses, including corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and S-Corps.
- Oversee complex tax compliance work including federal, state, and local returns.
- Advise business owners on tax planning strategies, entity structuring, succession planning, and risk mitigation.
- Review and sign off on returns prepared by staff and senior accountants for accuracy and completeness.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, providing coaching and performance feedback.
- Coordinate with other departments (audit, advisory, wealth management) to deliver integrated client service.
- Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and rulings for complex client scenarios.
- Participate in client meetings, provide updates on tax law changes, and assist with strategic initiatives.
- Manage deadlines, budgets, and workflow for multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Contribute to firm growth by identifying opportunities for additional services and participating in business development efforts.
Requirements:
- CPA license required.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
- 5 years of public accounting experience, including managing tax engagements for privately owned businesses.
- In-depth understanding of federal and state tax laws, particularly for pass-through entities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, UltraTax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Salary: $100,000 - $155,000
