Controls Engineer

Contract to Hire

40-$48 an hour Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, 401K

We are looking for a contract Controls Engineer to join the team based out of the Columbus, MS, area. This position requires strong technical knowledge, experience, and people skills to be successful.

Job Description :

  • Create and commission industrial control systems - PLC software design & HMI screens
  • Responsible for PLC / HMI code development, installation, de-bugging, and commissioning of whole system
  • Conduct peripheral device programming and machine PLC programming
  • Coordinate machine debug, power-up, and validation with electrical and build teams
  • Ensure systems are designed and programmed using standard techniques and approaches
  • Travel to customer sites for installation and startup

Skill Required :

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or mechatronics OR equivalent years of experience can be substituted for a degree
  • 5 years of Controls Engineering or PLC / HMI programming
  • 3 years of Siemens PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, Client, etc. are helpful as well)
  • Experience with hardware design using AutoCAD or similar
  • Ability to program and write code from scratch
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry or with integration and commissioning
  • Proficient in bus networks
