Auction House Assistant

Location: Ottawa Oh

We are looking for someone who would like to join our local auction house team. The right candidate for the job will be responsible for taking photos of the items in the auction. No experience is needed; we will provide training, but if you are an antique, comic, or sports connoisseur, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities

• Capture professional images to create a compelling and accurate representation of the product.
• Research and price various types of collectibles, including comics, collectibles, vintage knives, sports memorabilia, and more.
• Understand how to group items to make an appealing lot to be sold.
• Utilize photo editing software to crop and retouch images.
• Build entire auctions using our auction software.
• Identify and correct inaccuracies.
• Develop a working knowledge of internal image databases, naming conventions, and general auction house procedures.
• Develop a deeper knowledge of the items we deal with.
• Learn the whole process of posting an auction online.
• Willingness to train in and support other departments based on workflow needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A passion, appreciation for, or knowledge of collectibles and antiques
• Experience working with cameras, lighting, and other photography equipment is preferred.
• Computer proficiency is essential.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong time management skills
• Effective project management skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment and stand-alone, depending on the workload.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to move/lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.05 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
