The Supervisor, CareFlight Communication Center, is responsible for oversight of the CareFlight Communication Specialists within the Premier Health system. The supervisor collaborates directly with the CareFlight Regional Operations Managers and Program Manager to ensure excellent customer service and safety for the CareFlight program.
Works closely with Medical Director of CareFlight Air and Mobile to ensure standards are met for patient transports, compliance with EMTALA, Commission on Accreditation of Transportation Systems (CAMTS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and regulatory rules around transports.
Under the direct supervision of management, the Communications Center Supervisor has 24-hour responsibility for the CareFlight and MICU programs with regards to supervision of the Communications Specialists and operation of the CareFlight/MICU Communications Center. Assists with assuring quality of care to all CareFlight/MICU patients. Additionally, is responsible for staffing and scheduling of the Communications Specialists, policy and procedure development and implementation, departmental performance improvement, and assistance with financial management of communication specialist salaries, equipment and supplies, and meeting all MVH and program strategic goals. This position assumes the duties of a communications specialist at least 12 hours per week.

- Provide oversight and ensure appropriate coverage of Communication Specialists for the CareFlight program

- Provide coaching support and leadership to members of the team.
- Maintains professional relationships with EMS services, individual providers and key stakeholders
- Monitor real time interactions between Communication Specialists and CareFlight customers to identify opportunities for improvement. Works to develop and implement those interventions.
Additional Requirements
- Type of degree: EMS or healthcare related field
- Area of study or major: NA
- Preferred educational qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree
- A Certified Flight Communicator (CFC/IAMTCS) or Certified Flight Coordinator (CFC/Commlink) certification is required
- NIMS 100, 700, 800 within 180 days of hire
- Minimum Level of Experience Required: 5 - 7 years of job related experience
- Prior job title or occupational experience: Minimum 3 years of hospital, aviation, medical transportation, or business experience
- Prior specific functional responsibilities: Scheduling, Planning
- Preferred experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Communication Specialist within the CareFlight program. Previous experience as a pre-hospital dispatcher will be considered.
