Job Title : Special Procedure (Interventional Radiology) TechUnit : Interventional RadiologyShift : 7a-5 : 30p, w / e, on-call, holiday rotationFacility : MVHIndependently performs Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate / licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the IR department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.Essential Duties & Functions : Performs IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and / or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols.Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure.Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.Assists Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfactionAssesses learning needs and educates patients / families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.Other Duties & Functions : Other duties or functions to meet patient, departmental, or organizational needs.Education Required : Associate degree.Additional requirements : Type of degree : Allied HealthArea of study or major : Radiologic TechnologyLicensure / Certification / Registration : CPR Certification required.ACLS preferred.ARRT RT (R) registry required.Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) registry preferred.ODH licensure required.Experience Required : 1 - 3 years of job-related experience.Prior job title or occupational experience : Radiologic TechnologistPreferred experience : Progressive Radiologic Technology experienceKnowledge / Skills : Human anatomyProficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image StorageKnowledge of advanced IR computer applicationsRadiation Safety
