What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Premier Logitech?
The Production Manager will oversee all day to day production operations for Premier LogiTech - Contract Manufacturing. They will also be responsible for implementing new customers and projects, implementing continuous improvements and successfully achieving productivity metrics established for Premier LogiTech - Contract Manufacturing. The Production Manager will also work closely with Sales and Purchasing to ensure client production and quality commitments are met.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Help design and set up efficient production lay-out, setting and evaluating processes, goals and KPIs for different production projects.
- Ensure proper staffing levels, coordinate training and cross-training of designated staff, evaluating and adjusting to ensure customer needs are met.
- Develop and implement production plans and schedules to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative improvements or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
- Recommend solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Supervise and lead a team of production, quality and warehouse associates.
- Communicate job expectations and coach employees, provide training and development for team.
- Coach and counsel employee performance as needed, partnering with HR.
- Communicate and enforce company processes, policies and procedures, including those to support ISO and other compliance certifications.
- Interface with other departments such as Sales, Engineering or Quality to answer questions and ensure production processes meet customer requirements.
- Budget accountability for production project costs and profitability.
- Maintain standards of health, safety and security, including but not limited to ESD safety.
- Manage equipment maintenance and repair schedules to minimize downtime.
- Oversee and coordinate ordering the correct materials, components, and production supplies; this involves managing inventory of overage, shortage, and the verification/validation of alternate parts in DBA (manufacturing system).
- Manage, operate, and program SMT machines and thru-hole soldering operation as well as training SMT operators.
Skills and Specifications:
- 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in an SMT company
- 4 year degree preferred
- Bilingual English/Vietnamese, a plus
- Familiarity with ISO-9001, IPC 610, 5-S, and lean manufacturing
- Strong understanding of SMT technology
- Ability to program SMT machines and support SMT programmers, a plus
- Knowledge of production processes and procedures
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated experience identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities
- Must be results-driven and have demonstrated understanding of developing and managing metrics
