What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering and Maintenance Manager position at Premier Magnesia?
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction for all engineering and maintenance activities for multi-site, multi-state operations. With the guidance of the VP of Manufacturing, the Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing the strategic direction and execution of all corporate capital plans regarding new and existing facilities, new and existing equipment, and productivity efficiencies and improvement. The scope of the position will include oversight for the Waynesville Bulk Plant, Hazelwood Bulk Plant, Repackaging Plant, and Field Service organizations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deploying resources to actively lead, manage, track, and report on numerous strategic projects to offer transparency on status and progress to ownership and management.
- Provide leadership and major strategic project execution for all Premier Magnesia, LLC locations.
- Lead the work of the Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure a progressive culture of empowerment, responsibility, and accountability.
- Leading a nationally distributed Field Services team at a senior level.
- Support the Hydroxide Process for breadth of involvement (Aspers, PA)
- Accountability for managing high volume workloads, meeting assigned deadlines, achieving targets, and delivering on commitments.
- Expert knowledge of engineering processes, concepts, applications, and techniques.
- Strong financial acumen to develop, conduct analysis, and make strategic capital investment decisions.
- Management of major construction contracts
- Proactively lead Our House initiatives to engrain the concept conceptually and tactically into our everyday culture.
- Coach managers to create and maintain a work environment with high morale and productivity.
- Compliance & permitting oversight.
- Support and optimize the use of Maintenance systems
- Manage and motivate diverse workforce to meet production requirements, quality, and cost.
- Drive involvement in Operational Excellence: Continuous Improvement vehicle
- Maintain sufficient supply of raw materials, spare parts, and other essential items
- Maintain inventory, manpower and productivity records using excel spreadsheets, as well as
other reporting as necessary
- Oversee and assist with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and change-overs
- Maintain good rapport with all support staff and other department managers and promote a team environment
- Create and present informative area reports outlining effectiveness, productivity, and challenges.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering with Manufacturing & Maintenance experience preferred.
- Thrive in an environment driven by constant change and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Must possess a strong mechanical/chemical aptitude with at least 8 years of technical experience.
- Familiarity with 5-S and lean manufacturing processes preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent employee relations skills.
- Strong problem solving/analytical skills to investigate and formulate recommendations and action plans.
- Demonstrated process improvement experience.
- Proficient computer skills (ie. MS Office, ERP/MRO systems).
- Personal leadership skills.
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Travel required, up to possibly 20% of the time.
