Job Description:
Premier Magnesia relies on skilled maintenance professionals to ensure the optimal operation of our plant equipment. As a maintenance technician, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining various pieces of equipment as assigned, including electric and gas welding, hydraulics, rigging, pipe fitting, pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps, bearings and seals, power transmissions, gear boxes, equipment settings, and alignment.
To succeed in this role, you must have a strong foundation in mechanical aptitude and experience working with a variety of equipment types. A minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company is required. Previous experience should include a minimum of four years in an apprentice program, preferably a millwright program. If the apprentice program is not a millwright program, then the job experience must have a heavy emphasis on millwright-type work.
In addition to technical skills, you must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions, weld with proficiency in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding, and safely handle welding equipment. You should also be familiar with different types of steel and cast iron and be able to determine the appropriate rod to use in various situations.
Safety is paramount in the maintenance field, and you must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of safety protocols. This position requires minimal supervision, and you will be expected to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties will be assigned as needed, and you must be flexible and adaptable in your approach. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual who can make a positive contribution to our team.
