What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Sonographer position at Premier Medical Group P C?

Job Purpose: The sonographer utilizes sound waves to generate an image used for the assessment and diagnosis of medical conditions. The sonographer uses special equipment to direct non-ionizing, high frequency sound waves into areas of the patients body to collect reflected echoes and forms and image that may be videotaped, transmitted or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis.
Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)
1. Complete patient education regarding the exam
2. Promote privacy and comfort for the patient.
3. Participate in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence
4. Follows applicable protocols for scanning with assistance of Radiologist
5. Participates in patient scheduling
6. Follow infection control and safety guidelines
7. Performs related work as required.
Education: Completion of an Associates or Bachelors Degree in Sonography
Experience: One year full time experience as an Ultrasound Technician
Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate an understanding of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology. Uses professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Licenses/Certifications: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. CPR certification.

Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May be required to help lift/transfer patient. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
