What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Lead - Camas, WA position at Premier Northwest Kids Forest School?
PNWK Forest School is looking for a Summer Camp Lead Teacher for the Camas, WA location.
Monday through Thursday.
8:45 am to 12:45 pm and 1:15 pm to 4:45 pm
$20 to $22 per hour depending on experience.
Duties with Children
- Make sure the children are safe and supported
- Interact with children in a positive, supportive, respectful and open-minded manner
- Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety
- Use positive, appropriate and supportive language with children
- Observe children's behavior and learning
- Implement and expand on provided curriculum
- Collect class materials needed for daily activities
- Classroom management - circle time, activities, trail walking
- Responsible for maintaining class materials- loose parts, pop-up potty, teacher backpacks, etc.
Parent Relations
- Model Developmentally Appropriate Practices for parents
- Communicate in a positive, supportive, professional and factual manner
- Maintain confidentiality in terms of children, staff, and parents when communicating with parents
- Communicate directly with families regarding group projects, class activities and children's interests
- Answer parent questions and conduct parent/teacher meetings as needed
Staff Relations
- Establish and maintain a positive relationship of cooperation, communication, and respect with co-workers
- Contribute to the development of community among staff at an appropriate time, communicate directly with fellow staff when conflicts arise
- Provide training for staff as needed to support their skill building
- Communicate with fellow staff regarding discussions about children, class policies, curriculum, etc.
- Conduct meetings and communicate with fellow staff regarding discussions about children, class policies, curriculum, etc.
- Contribute to the development of community among staff at an appropriate time, communicate directly with fellow staff when conflicts arise
Professional Expectations
- Positively project the mission, goals, philosophy and policies of PNWK to parents, staff and community
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Communicate any concerns or questions, regarding staff, students, families, policies, location, etc, to admin team
Qualifications
- LOVES working with young children and is energetic and passionate about working one-on-one with children, as well as with groups of children.
- 1 year minimum working in education leading a classroom or group of children
- Excellent executive functioning skills, strong multi-tasker
- Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively in an all outdoor, forest setting, and open and flexible to new ideas.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) Current Emergency First Aid and Child CPR certificate
- Must provide Measles vaccination and COVID
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be able to crouch down, step over logs, and navigate over roots and branches
- Be able to lift 25 to 50 lbs.
- Stand outdoors in all weather for long periods
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all locations within county as required
- Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively in an all outdoor, forest setting, and open and flexible to new ideas.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
