Job Description Overview
We are a General Contractor with a project scope of Industrial/Maintenance, Traffic Control, Pipeline Services, and more. No project or job is so important, and no task so urgent, that we cannot take the time to perform our work safely. Safety is a primary directive; our employees, customers, and the public are the most important assets this company has. We are looking for a Construction Professional to join our team as a Construction Estimator.
Responsibilities
Assist in analyzing incoming bid opportunities to determine effort and worthiness of bid preparation.
Support the Lead Estimator by performing initial bid reviews with the PM/Estimating team to prepare for bid close-out.
Attend pre-bid meetings and project meetings to represent the client as directed by the Lead Estimator.
Travel to client offices and project sites in locations within the U.S. as needed to attend for training, assigned meetings, and conferences as requested.
Perform all duties consistent with the Company Mission Statement and the client's philosophy.
Maintain a positive attitude and good working relationships with customers, employees, and the public.
Preparation of Bids as needed, including:
Review and understand all plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents required to complete an accurate bid and proposal.
Evaluate constructability issues during the proposal preparation process.
Procure subcontract and material quotes as well as perform a review of each for conformance with project specifications.
Prepare a summary of additional project requirements including the project schedule and milestones and review with the Lead Estimator.
Communicate the equipment needs of the bid with the equipment department to procure rate information for evaluation by the estimating team
Set up bids in HCSS as directed
Assist Lead Estimator in pricing & final submission of bid documents.
Schedule and complete all duties with minimal direct supervision.
Represent the company in a professional manner in all instances.
Assist in the preparation and execution of subcontractor and material procurement components as requested.
Attend in-house pre-job meeting to review the scope of the project with assigned Project Manager.
If requested, attend a pre-job meeting with the owner as needed.
Assist in the preparation of all documents including schedule, purchase orders, subcontracts, as requested.

Must Have
- 2-5 years of estimating experience within industrial construction environments
- Proficient utilizing internal cost systems, progressing systems, P6 scheduling, work breakdown structures, and project status reports
- Must have experience estimating piping, equipment, civil, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suit (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge about Lump Sum and Cost Reimbursable estimating
- Experience using BIM software for quantity take-offs and visualization where possible to support preparation of a complete estimate
- Ability to collect “actual data” from the field to improve speed and accuracy in the development of future construction scope, costs, and risks
- Knowledgeable about current estimating techniques
