This role will serve as the technical authority, ensuring seamless collaboration between architects, engineers, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in data center building design and strong communication skills to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of data center projects, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and business requirements.
- Act as the primary technical expert, working closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on site planning, infrastructure requirements, power and cooling systems, security, and redundancy strategies.
- Translate technical design considerations into clear, strategic insights for clients and executive stakeholders.
- Oversee design compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, BICSI, NFPA, local building codes).
- Drive collaboration between internal and external teams, ensuring efficient project execution.
- Stay current with emerging trends in data center technology, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
- Support project approvals, budgeting, and technical risk assessment. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering (MEP, Electrical, Structural), or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in data center design, coordination, and construction.
- Strong understanding of power distribution, cooling strategies, structural considerations, and security best practices for mission-critical facilities.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams without direct authority.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as Uptime Tier Ratings, ASHRAE thermal guidelines, and NEC/NFPA codes.
- Proficiency with design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM) and project management software.
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to align expectations and deliverables. Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE, RA, LEED AP, Uptime Institute ATD, BICSI RCDD).
- Experience with hyperscale data centers, colocation facilities, or high-performance computing environments.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and energy efficiency strategies for data centers.
