C17 Crew Chief SME/Maintenance Instructor

🚀 We’re Hiring: C-17 Aircraft Maintenance Subject Matter Expert (SME) 🚀

We are looking for a dedicated C-17 Aircraft Maintenance Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience in C-17 Maintenance Training System Instruction. This role is crucial to our BDUK Synthetic Training Systems project, ensuring that design decisions meet engineering requirements while maintaining fidelity to the actual aircraft platform. Your expertise will help prevent negative training outcomes caused by discrepancies in design or appearance.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Technical Expertise

✔ Serve as the C-17 qualified technical advisor during device verification and validation.

✔ Provide specialized knowledge of C-17 Flight Control Systems to guide design and implementation.

✔ Ensure all modifications and designs align with operational fidelity of the C-17 aircraft.

🔹 Instructional Support

✔ Apply your experience as a USAF C-17 Maintenance Training System (MTS) Instructor to enhance training effectiveness.

✔ Support the development of accurate and effective training materials.

🔹 Project Collaboration

✔ Work closely with Systems Engineering teams to prevent nonconforming design decisions.

✔ Address configuration and design changes needed to achieve full operational readiness.

🔹 Compliance & Certification

✔ Ensure verification and validation requirements are met for design certification and conformity.

✔ Maintain consistency with USAF Aircraft Flight Control System Trainer (AFCST) standards.

🔹 Stakeholder Engagement

✔ Provide expertise to ensure training fidelity is not compromised.

Qualifications

✅ Education

🎓 Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, OR equivalent experience and training.

✅ Experience

🔹 8 years in maintenance training systems or maintenance simulation devices.

🔹 Direct experience with C-17 Globemaster III aircraft maintenance.

🔹 Previous role as a C-17 Maintenance Training System Instructor.

🔹 USAF C-17 Flying Crew Chief experience is highly desirable.

✅ Skills & Abilities

🔹 In-depth knowledge of C-17 Flight Control Systems.

🔹 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

🔹 Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

🔹 Ability to lead engineering teams or manage subcontractor projects (a plus!).

Preferred Qualifications

⭐ Certified Instructor in training system instruction.

⭐ Hands-on mechanical experience in aircraft maintenance.

⭐ Strong project management and leadership skills.

⭐ Knowledge of avionics, mechanical systems, and flight controls.
