Description
Premier Surgical Center is currently hiring a part time Sterile Processing Technician. This position would work approximately 2-3 days per week or as business needs. No weekends or late evenings required.
Position Summary:
Assists the OR staff in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. Responsible for instrument decontamination, sterile processing, instrument care and handling and documentation and record keeping related to those activities. Serves as support personnel assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility: Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians and holds and maintains one of the following, 1) Certified registered central service technician credential or 2) Certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential. This certification requirement shall not apply to an individual who has been employed or otherwise contracted for services as a central service technician by a healthcare facility on or before October 6, 2020. Current BLS.
- Eligibility: All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.
Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
- Interpersonal: Average communication skills. Demonstrates a positive, friendly and courteous manner. Demonstrates the ability to work well with other employees.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to organize equipment, instruments and supplies. Ability to adhere to the work schedule and manage time appropriately. Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Above average organization skills.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in a hospital central sterile department, operating room or ambulatory surgery center. Knowledge of instrument names and their care and handling procedures. Sterilization and disinfection.
- Machines, Equipment, Work Aids: Telephone and fax. Autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, biological test incubator, medical gas canisters, surgical instruments, equipment, machinery and medical supplies.
- Work Environment: Occasional overtime. Must handle stress in meeting time demands.
