Job Details
The dry utilities Field Superintendent is responsible for providing field supervision over crews involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution and service lines, meters, metering equipment and related equipment. Dynamic leadership skills and coordination for the efficient execution of policies, procedures and productivity as assigned. This job has been classified by PUC as being Safety Sensitive and containing Safety Sensitive Functions.
Job Performance Standards
New Project
Assists the Project Manager in the preparation of a project including but not limited to documentation, requirements, project layout and developing a project schedule.
Attends pre-construction meetings with Project Manager as well as the start of each project.
Oversees and assist the foreman in the confirmation of all located and marked utility lines.
Coordination of Resources
Oversees the coordination of equipment and material requests and deliveries for necessity and efficiency.
Holds periodic briefings for field crew with task and expectations for that given project.
Oversees the job site for the overall condition and return of equipment, small tools, materials after completion.
Maintains a constant flow of communication to Project Coordinator for inspections and paramount material requests.
Project Cost Management
Engages with client’s representative on the field periodically, quantifies scope of work and informs Project Manager of any requested changes.
Ensure that all machinery and tools are available to the crew and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
Field Operations Progress & Status
Oversees daily construction procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained, and work is adhering to schedule.
Oversees progress prints, as-builts and progress pictures for accuracy and clarity.
Supplies Project Manager progress prints/as-builts daily through Field View.
Supplies Project Manager progress pictures weekly through Field View.
Meets with Project Manager to discuss and strategize projects in preparation for Operations Department and Client meetings.
Attends Operations Department meeting frequently.
Attends all sub-contractor meetings.
Site Visit
Performs Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
Walks the site with Project Manager and/or Client on a periodic basis for project updates and overall satisfaction of the client.
Oversees field crew and meets with Foreman to make sure all project specifications are strictly followed and within scope.
Oversees final walkthrough between Foreman and Clients.
Assesses construction site for conflicts in construction progress and communicates them directly to Project Manager.
Communicates with Project Coordinator for required inspections, submittals and permits and materials.
Complete 9x9 forms for site visit reporting and communicates updates to Project Manager
Safety
Requests field inspections by PUC Safety Representatives or Risk Management at random and without warning to field crew.
Oversees the cleanliness of work sites and inspects for proper storage of hazardous material before and after daily task.
Oversees that all materials, supplies, tools and equipment are procured in a time efficient manner.
Inspects daily excavation and adjacent area as well as protective systems inspection and submits findings to appropriate sources.
Monitors crew during working periods to evaluate safety practices and immediately correcting those necessary.
Assist Foreman that all equipment and tools are in good condition before and after any departure from work site and reports findings to Logistics immediately, if repairs or maintenance is needed.
Reporting
Identifies areas of work that are outside of contracted scope and inform PM of changes.
Ensures the Foreman is completing and submitting daily trench logs, equipment logs, safety sheets and time entry daily and on time.
Ensures the Foreman is completing and submitting as-builts daily and progress pictures weekly.
Informs Foreman of all updates and changes resulting from the Operations and all other meetings.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience working in dry utilities electrical industry.
- High School Diploma is preferred however is not required.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and the coordination of manpower and resources.
- Experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in underground dry utilities and the electrical industry.
- Understand the practical applications of engineering and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various projects.
- Familiarity with the NEC, SRP/APS/Century Link/Cox Specifications
- Knowledge and/or experience in operating excavating equipment and/or other heavy machinery.
- Experience in effectively supervising other employees
- Must have valid driver’s license (subject to approval of insurance broker)
- Ability to communicate in a professional and tactful manner with others as a representation of the company.
Salary : $34 - $40
