What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Premier Veterinary Hospital?
We are a full service veterinary hospital specializing in providing high quality medicine to our patients and outstanding client service. We are looking to add an exceptional veterinary technician to our team. Candidate must have a warm and caring personality, positive attitude, and at least three years of veterinary technician experience. Responsibilities include performing sample collection and laboratory tests, placing IV catheters, dental procedures and dental radiographs, surgery preparation of patients, anesthesia, educating clients, invoicing, and assisting the doctor as needed. You MUST be proficient in blood draws from all veins, IV catheter placement, intubation, anesthetic monitoring for all parameters, familiar with vaccine protocols and medications for dogs and cats. The ideal candidate exhibits leadership and a desire to train other staff in correct practices and protocols. This position requires a vast knowledge and proficiency with computers and medical software. You must be proficient in basic computer software and capable of quickly learning veterinary software programs.
This position will also include duties related to office management. The individual will be responsible for the overall operations and development of our medical practice. In this important role, the successful applicant will act as an information resource and ambassador to patients, the general public, veterinarians and staff. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to human resources (i.e. interview, hire and train new staff), manage daily staffing to ensure optimal operation of the practice, regularly review productivity and make staffing adjustments as needed, monitor and approve time cards, conduct regular staff meetings and annual performance evaluations for the administrative team, review accounts receivable and payable reports monthly, oversee flow of daily hospital operations, and oversee inventory management and ensure inventory of hospital is accurate.
Licensed veterinary technician preferred (LVT)
Minimum 2 years technician experience
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Medical office billing experience an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills
