DME Billing Manager
- Supervise and mentor a team of Durable Medical Equipment billing specialists, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Monitor individual performance and provide coaching to improve billing accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct staff training on new billing regulations, coding updates, and DME billing system functionalities.
Billing Operations:
- Oversee the entire DME billing cycle, from patient registration to claim submission and follow-up.
- Review patient demographics and insurance verification to ensure accurate billing.
- Ensure proper coding of DME items using HCPCS codes, adhering to Medicare and commercial payer guidelines.
- Submit electronic claims through clearinghouse systems and monitor claim statuses.
·Claim Denial Management:
- Analyze claim denials and identify root causes to implement corrective actions.
- Research and appeal denied claims, working with insurance companies to resolve billing disputes.
- Implement strategies to minimize claim denials and improve billing accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The applicant should have an understanding of care management companies and their role in DME billing (e.g. One Call, Optum, etc.).
- The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of nurse case managers and insurance adjusters in relation to DME orders and the billing cycle. (e.g. One Call, Optum, etc.).
- The applicant should have the ability to hold reps accountable to submitting necessary documentation for orders and deliveries.
- The candidate will be proficient in computer skills, including typing, spreadsheets, Adobe, and other relevant software.
Education:
- College Degree or Certification in Medical Billing and Coding
