What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underwriter position at PREMIUM MORTGAGE CORPORATION?
The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating risk and making loan decisions based on existing underwriting guidelines and information and documentation provided in the loan file.
The Underwriter will be responsible for completing the following job duties.
- Reviews conditions on files within posted turn times
- Completes underwrite on files submitted to underwriting for approval within posted turn times
- Provides feedback on loan quality to the Underwriting Manager
- Mentors and develops processing staff and loan officers
- Maintains a unified voice with fellow underwriters on underwriting guidance
- Escalates files issues not covered in our guidelines to Underwriting Manager for guidance
- Communicates decisions to all internal parties
- Works jointly with co-workers to respond to concerns of quality on files, such as QC, PETR, NOR or audit/clarification requests from different managers or departments
- Stays up to date on changing rules and regulations pertaining to conventional and government-insured mortgages
- Meets the required KPI standards for the position (6 units per day based on weighted scale)
- Training as needed

Education:
- A college degree with two years related experience and/or training. A combination of equivalent education and experience is acceptable.

The Underwriter is primarily in an office setting and may be exposed to outdoor conditions.
The working conditions are classified as sedentary work:
- Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
