Maintenance Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a maintenance manager for rendering operations. The maintenance manager oversees all maintenance activities within a facility, including scheduling repairs, supervising maintenance staff, ensuring equipment is properly maintained through preventative measures, managing budgets, and coordinating with vendors to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently; they are responsible for identifying potential issues, troubleshooting problems, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and optimize equipment lifespan while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain safety standards throughout his/her area of responsibility as required by law and company policy.
• Direct and implement job related training for all team members in his/her department.
• Monitor and manage maintenance costs, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Utilize strong communication skills to properly coach and guide team members to resolve employee issues and ensures corrective actions are implemented and followed.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, oversee repairs, and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks
• Create and foster a high morale workplace with the highest ethical standards by treating all team members with dignity and respect.
• Ensure all proper processing procedures (quality, safety, etc...) are adhered to and not compromised.
• Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, downtime, and costs for management review.
• Insure the appropriate level of discipline and accountability for team members while in pursuit of company and or customer established goals.
• Monitor and make appropriate timely improvement actions necessary to meet production goals and yields.
• Utilize problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies and process control tools to efficiently meet or exceed the production schedule.
• Work with the supervisors on a daily basis to ensure the facility is operating to the highest level of efficiency.
• Establish relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage parts inventory.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, create work orders, and assign tasks to maintenance technicians.

Experience

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years leadership experience working in a rendering facility.
• Mechanical aptitude to direct and delegate correcting mechanical equipment issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs in extreme heat.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.
• Flexibility to work on a variety of shifts and work extensive overtime, including weekends.
• Good computer literacy skills and possess ability to write clear and concise reports.
• Results driven and employee oriented.
• Commitment to follow safety policies and practices and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Uphold company policies and ethical standards.
• Good leadership and motivational skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Willingness to attend classes or training as needed.

Required Skills

• Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems depending on the industry
• Problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and identify root causes
• Leadership abilities: Effectively manage and motivate a team of maintenance technicians
• Communication skills: Clearly communicate instructions, updates, and concerns to staff and management
• Analytical skills: Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in maintenance practices
• Computer proficiency: Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
