Job Description:
The Meat Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Meat Department. Duties may include assisting customers, receiving, and preparing custom orders, ordering product, taking inventory, setting the example for department employees, creating weekly schedule, grinding meat, cutting meat, trimming meat, portioning meat, wrapping meat, labeling meat, stocking product, displaying products, and checking product quality.
Primary Duties:
- Set the example: provide friendly, prompt, and efficient customer service.
- Create a daily plan and instruct, assign, and review plan with employees.
- Complete or oversee ordering of product for the department.
- Create a positive work environment by keeping a positive attitude, encouraging employees, keeping work fun and flexible while also setting the example and following company standards.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate department employees.
- Create goals for department to meet company standard gross margins.
- Creates weekly work schedule for department and employees.
- Conduct inventories of the department.
- Ensure correct department pricing.
- Plan displays, promotions, and in-store special prices.
- Cut, grind, tray, wrap, weigh, and label all varieties of meat – while operating tools safely.
- Stock cases and rotate product.
- Practice proper sanitation procedures and complete required cleaning to ensure work areas and displays are kept neat and clean.
- Ensure the correct temperatures to guarantee product is kept fresh, and control shrink.
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
