Working Conditions: The Coordinator of Volunteers works from home and functions efficiently using their own computer, phone, and a provided PCHAS email address. This person should be outgoing and able to accurately communicate (verbally and in writing) with individuals and large groups. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and have a flexible schedule. Mileage and meal reimbursements are provided for required travel.
Position Summary: The Village Life Coordinator (VLC) provides support to residents of the Itasca Foster Care Village and oversees the recreational learning programs, including summer lifeguards and the Village Recreation and Overnight Relief Couple (VRRVROR). The VLC coordinates the VROR and lifeguard schedules, manages 11and creates activities and events, and ensures recreation facilities and equipment are maintained by the residents of the Village, and supports the branch Foster Care and Adoption Case Managers. Volunteers, VROR, and Lifeguards for the Village will be supervised by the VLC. Carry out T3C specialized tasks of children being provided Basic Foster Family Home Support Services, Short-Term Assessment Support Services, and Mental and Behavioral Health Support Services.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate the management of the Village Foster Parent Group (Village People).
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate with residents (foster parents) as needed.
- Oversee and develop the recreational learning programs including independent living skills, emotional regulation skills, nurture groups, in collaboration with the Education Services Director, VROR, Village People, and the Program Director.
- Develops and manages the schedule for the Recreation and Overnight Relief-Couple (VROR) in collaboration with the foster parents,
- Hire, supervise, and schedule summer lifeguards.
- Organize and plan with foster parents' special events for the Village community including facilitating discussions with the foster parents, provide choices and ideas, listen to needs, and desires of the foster parents.
- Provide enhanced support services to Kinship Foster Family Home Caregivers customized to the needs of the Kinship Caregivers and the child, youth, or young adult living in the Kinship Foster Family Home and providing primary leadership, in collaboration with staff, to support Kinship Foster Family Home Caregivers and for children/youth in kinship care. 10 VLC will collaborate with PCHAS Development, Volunteer Coordinator, Christian organizations and Itasca ISD for the benefit of Village Campus Life.
- Manage the donation/foodbank supply room.
- Support Village Case Managers when needed including but not limited to periodically carrying a case load of up to 6 children
- VLC will perform budgeting functions and conduct surveys or assessments of the campus needs.
- Conduct monthly facilities checks for compliance with home leases in collaboration with the Maintenance Department and the Case Managers for each home.
- Ensure pool, gym, gym equipment. and recreation room is maintained and cleaned on a regular basis.
- Provide on-call support and placement for the Foster Care Village on a rotating basis.
Requirements
- Must be able to maintain an office in the village with skills navigating Word, Excel, Outlook 365 email, and various web-based data systems.
- Hours of work may vary according to the needs of Village Life activities/events.
- Must be able to see, hear, and respond to youth, foster parents and/or other PCHAS staff.
- Work environment is high energy with a possibility of verbal/physical aggression from youth.
- Low risk of exposure to infectious diseases.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in social work or other Human Service field from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree preferred. Must be 21 years of age. Must hold or willing to obtain the following licenses and certifications: CPR, First Aid, TBRI Practioner, CPI - all part of job training.
Other Requirements:
Must hold a valid driver’s license, have and maintain a risk-free driving record. Must be willing to undergo initial and periodic child abuse/neglect, criminal history, sexual offender, and childcare/elder care disqualification list screenings. As requested, must submit fingerprints for review by the state of your employment and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Must undergo a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment physical with the results showing no evidence of communicable disease.
