What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Support Driver position at Presbyterian Residential Community (PRC)?
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the safe transportation & support to ESSHI participants from the Meadows at Middle Settlement road to any necessary appointments that Medicaid transport is not available or off site outings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the operation of ESSHI transportation vehicle, which includes AWD SUV with a focus on safety.
- Maintains defensive driving at all times responding to all safety signs, traffic and road conditions.
- Assists tenants, team members, and other passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle and assures safe destination and arrival.
- Interprets driving directions to plan the most efficient route service available.
- Provides transportation as necessary for special functions outside the facility and transports residents back and forth to appointments as requested.
- Fuels vehicles, as necessary or assigned
- Will clean both the exterior and interior of vehicle as needed or assigned.
- Pick up and /or drop off vehicles to and from our repair shops as assigned.
- In accordance with facility policies responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies with proper notification to designated parties relative to the accident/incident.
- Maintains accurate, up to date mileage records as required.
- If a passenger is going to be late to their destination the Resident Support Driver will notify the Care Navigator/ ESSHI Program Manager to relay.
- Notifies the ESSHI Program Manager of any vehicle problems for immediate attention to ensure vehicle safety at all times.
- Must possess a valid/clean New York state driver’s abstract & license in good standing meeting insurers’ requirements.
- Assist with meal delivery to ESSHI units.
- Assist ESSHI tenants with any lifting tasks outside of tenant’s abilities.
- Will perform other duties as assigned by the ESSHI Program Manager.
- Responsible for on foot rounding of phase II of the Meadows to be proactive with enforcing Beacon property management house rules & ESSHI obligations for ESSHI participants.
- Follow rounding schedule as outlined by ESSHI Program Manager.
- Maintain both written and electronic record of interactions throughout shift.
- Establish rapport with ESSHI Participants and Meadows Tenants to help facilitate a sense of community within the Meadows phase II property and promote safety awareness.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Graduate/GED
- Must possess a valid/clean New York state driver’s abstract & license in good standing meeting insurers’ requirements.
- Have good physical health, as indicated by documentation in the Human Resources Files and the ability to lift 50lbs.
- A NYSDMV drivers abstract is required – clean.
- This position does have regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check.
- Travel is required. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HAZARDS:
- Job related tasks do not involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
- OSHA Exposure Category III
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands, bends, drives and walks most of the day. Must have good eye sight to ensure Safe navigation of fleet vehicles. Will assist individuals entering and exiting the Vehicles.
