The Veterans Assistance Specialist is responsible for meeting with Residents and/or responsible parties through multiple communities to assist with applying for appropriate Veterans’ and/or Veterans’ widow(ers) benefits and services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience dealing with Veterans’ benefits; required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field of study; preferred
- Knowledge of Veterans’ benefits eligibility, laws, regulations, and guidelines; preferred
- Minimum of two years talent acquisition (recruitment) experience; preferred
Expectations:
- Develop processes to identify current customers for Veterans’ benefits assessment while remaining knowledgeable about related current processes within the Veteran’s Administration (VA)
- Meet with identified potential beneficiaries to assess financial eligibility for benefits
- Assess and evaluate eligibility for all programs including pension, disability and the potential for increases to current VA benefits received
- Assist with completing applications and appeals for beneficiaries
- Maintain a network of contacts within the VA system including local county VA units
