Presbyterian Village North is currently hiring a Bus Driver / Transportation Specialist - PRN schedule for our Continuing Care Retirement Community. Start as soon as possible once all new hire screenings are completed and meet our amazing residents!
PRN hours : Flexible hours change monthly to meet our resident needs. Cover for PTO day shifts, evenings and occasional Saturday / Sunday.
Availability should be flexible. CDL valid license is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Flexible availability
Model a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co-workers
Ensure resident / patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
Maintain good attendance record
Assist with record keeping of resident appointment and / or office errands
Review daily schedule with supervisor and discuss any scheduling problems and / or conflicts
Drive van or bus to deliver and pick-up residents to and from appointments through the city
Complete errands as assigned by supervisor, such as bank, post office, office supplies, having keys made, hardware store, etc.
Alert appropriate personnel regarding routine maintenance schedules : oil changes, inspections, tag renewal, changing digital clocks, etc.
Notify Director of Transportation of any problems with schedule, residents and / or vehicles
Provide other transportation services as required, i.e. employee injuries, miscellaneous deliveries
Assist with activity programs and front office support, as assigned by supervisor, when not scheduled for driving assignments (i.e. group or one-on-one activities, encouraging residents participation and attendance, receptionist, mail)
Other duties as assigned by Director of Residential and Community Services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High school graduate / GED required
Preferred : Current Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) for transporting passengers
Activity certification from an approved course as required by State of Texas preferred
One or more years working with the elderly in providing group activities
Ability to learn and assist with development of activities for senior adults
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
Safe driving record with Texas Department of Public Safety; no convictions : DUI, DWI, blood / breath test refusals; no serious traffic violations : speeding 15 miles over speed limit, reckless driving, fatal accident
Ability to read maps, use GPS, and have good knowledge of Dallas and surrounding areas
Ability to communicate with residents with concern and compassion
Ability to adjust to changing situations and priorities (additions to planned schedule, multiple interruptions, etc.) and work under stress
Ability to maintain vehicles in good working order through attentiveness to daily condition of vehicles; mechanical knowledge preferable
Ability to push residents in wheelchairs on flat and inclined surfaces, lift wheelchairs into and out of vehicles, support residents during transfer to and from vehicles, lift and carry bags
Ability to carry out assignments with constant safety and security of residents
Ability to perform Essential Duties
Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, persons with a handicap and hospice patients
Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements
Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities
