What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Manager AL/RLC position at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan?
Directs and supervises the nursing staff and Resident Assistants ensuring quality care in accordance with all applicable standards, guidelines and regulations. Performs various resident care treatments/services and assists in the coordination, direction and management of the department to provide for the needs, safety and comfort of the residents. Licensing required.
Experience Two years of geriatric experience preferred.
Previous Supervisory Experience Preferred.
Computer Skills Ability to operate a computer.
Certificates & Licenses Current registration and/or licensure from the State of Michigan
Valid CPR/First Aid certifications.

- Conduct supervisory activities such as hiring staff, providing employee orientation, participate in interviewing and hiring associates along with implementing progressive counseling, training, creating work schedules, coaching or disciplinary action, and approving employee time sheets for department.
- Monitor resident calls and ensure staff answer promptly and determine how to assist them.
- Help residents with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, moving in bed, or standing and walking.
- Administer prescribed medications as ordered by physician(s) or in response to emergency situations, noting times and amounts on residents' charts.
- Observe residents, charting and reporting changes in residents' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
- Provide basic resident care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, and treating bedsores (not inclusive)
- Observe, measure and record residents' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Establishes and/or maintains positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, hospital personnel and other medical practitioners, community organizations and various agencies.
- Assists in the development and implementation of nursing care measures and techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness, security and supply of medication, supply rooms and equipment.
- Review departmental documentation, charts and records. Correct or bring errors to supervisors attention.
- Inventory and requisition supplies and instruments.
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
- Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to
- Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures.
- Safety policies and procedures.
- Federal, state and local regulations.
- Continual preparation for the annual state licensure survey and conduct monthly in-services so all associates are prepared and up to date.
- Supervise and train all medtechs to ensure they are administering and documenting all medications as ordered.
- To be on call for any resident, family or staff concerns as needed.
- To lead yearly(or as needed) care conferences with families along with the interdisciplinary team.
- All other duties as assigned
