Job Description:
Airworthiness Technical Expert
The requirements listed define the Airworthiness Technical Expert (AWTE) responsibilities and
tasking. The AWTE is a highly qualified individual that understands airborne projects, Systems
Engineering (SE), managing resources, and is able to conduct in-depth analysis of airborne
systems. The AWTE works with the design team and the Government to understand the
clients business needs, develop engineering solutions for manned and unmanned systems.
The AWTE shall directly support the Chief Integration Officer (CIO)/Minotaur Program
Manager and work with team members to accomplish tasking related to design, integration
and deployment of fleet supported mission systems, ground infrastructure, and airborne
systems. The AWTE shall be a self starter that is able to deliver products to meet mission
execution for the war-fighter.
The AWTE shall be qualified to execute the below functions.
AWTE1: Develop and analyze high level architectures, designs, and functional requirements
for ground, aircraft, and surface, manned and unmanned systems.
AWTE2: Create solutions and develop airworthiness documentation.
AWTE3: Develop detailed specifications and requirements.
AWTE4: Review asset prototype, Validation/Verification (VAL/VER), and production designs to
work towards flight clearance approvals.
AWTE5: Draft system design ideas, plans, concepts, and reports for enterprise solutions.
AWTE6: Develop, prepare documentation, and conduct System Engineering Technical
Reviews (SETR) reviews of airborne systems to meet airworthiness qualifications.
AWTE7: Work with team members and customers to ensure operational usability, security,
scalability, maintainability, and reliability of airborne platforms and systems.
AWTE8: Execute travel to meet Government requirements.
AWTE9: Obtain and Maintain at least a Top Secret clearance.
AWTE10: Be able to accept guidance and direction from the CIE/MPM and Senior Leadership.
AWTE11: Conduct Government and internal reviews and take action on feedback from
reviewers.
AWTE12: Build visions, business relationships & goals for future endeavors.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelors degree in Information Technology (IT), Electrical Engineering (EE), Aerospace
Engineer (AE) or similar related technical study. Technical degree may be substituted for 15
years of technical experience or Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in related fields such as
avionics, electronic, C5ISR, or IT systems.
Proven performance with projects with good communication, writing and team skills.
A Masters degree with DOD or DHS with associated experience in operations, engineering,
maintenance and/or mission execution.
