Qualifications
The Master Teacher’s qualifications must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for the position. A Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development Associate is required. Three to five years’ work experience in a licensed childcare facility is also preferred.
Job Summary
The Master Teacher consistently implements learning activities promoting students’ social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through the use of planned curriculum. Ensures that classroom is consistently clean, safe, and organized. Oversees and coordinates student’s personal care, hygiene, and positive guidance. Maintains and regularly updates classroom records, developmental checklists, and progress reports. Provides parents with daily updates on student progress and offers both formal and informal parent-teacher conferences regularly. The Master Teacher adheres to all local regulatory agencies’ rules and regulation as well as company policies and guidelines for the care of children.
Job Responsibilities and Standards of Performance
Educational Programs
- Consistently implements learning activities to promote students’ social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through the use of planned curriculum
- Helps students to learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others
- Implements informed teaching strategies based upon the students’ backgrounds, needs, interests, and learning styles communicating with students using the appropriate tone and vocabulary
- Keeps accurate, regularly updated records of each student’s developmental milestones and/or progress and provides parents with daily updates on student progress
- Creates a developmentally appropriate environment consistent with Préscolaire’s philosophy and goals
- Maintains developmentally appropriate room arrangement, bulletin boards, décor, and learning environment in the classroom. Maintains educational materials and equipment by keeping classroom neat, clean, and organized
- Establishes and maintains management of primary care groups
- Mentors and supervises assistant teachers to ensure the physical and emotional wellbeing of each student
- Implements and participates in family-style service at meals and snacks; models good table manners
- Plans formal parent conferences with direction from Director of Education
