IVP Fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
A valid School Social Worker Certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Education
Position Description
Provide direct support to students including assessments, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention.
Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management.
Helping students develop appropriate social interaction skills.
Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success.
Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
Assist parents to access programs available to students with special needs.
Providing staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student's performance and behavior.
Advise and consult with staff on behavior improvement plans.
Assessing students with mental health concerns.
Developing staff in-service training programs.
Assisting teachers with behavior management.
Serve assigned Special Education students in alignment with IEP goals, as well as work with the general education population as assigned and / or needed.
Attend scheduled staff, parent, and student meetings, including IEP meetings of students whom you provide services to
Provide data to the IEP team and case manager relating to students whom you provide counseling support
Must consistently demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good public relations with school staff, families, referral agencies, and other community resources through appropriate organizational, written, and verbal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Work with public and outside agencies to ensure that all aspects of student programs are addressed. Refer students or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
Provide postvention support after crisis situations for staff, students, and parents, as needed at any school in the PUSD district.
Conduct home visits, as needed, for supporting student achievement and wellbeing.
Attend local staff meetings, and attend area, state, and national professional meetings upon approval, to continually upgrade professional knowledge.
