Pay Range: $125 to $200 per class depending on experience, approximately $20,000-$32,000 for the semester (4 sections)

Position Summary
Presentation High School in San Jose, California is seeking a temporary, part-time Biology instructor to join the Science Department in the 2025-2026 school year. We are looking for an experienced, innovative teacher who is eager to develop classrooms of belonging where students are ready to take intellectual risks and put their learning into action in the “real” world.
Substitute teachers may also be requested to make themselves available in a reasonably timely manner for meetings with other faculty/staff regarding student support, interdepartmental collaboration, and also by students/parents at their request. Every effort may be made to accommodate substitute teachers’ schedules when scheduling these meetings.
Additional compensation is provided for professional development days, Back to School Night, Frosh Orientation, Graduation, etc. as applicable.

- Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students.
- Devise a system of classroom order and discipline that contributes to the learning of all students.
- Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching.
- Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies.
- Model a spirit of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
- Be available to students who need assistance.
- Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology.
Education & Experience
- B.A. degree
- Single-subject teaching credential or Master's Degree in the subject area, preferred
- Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level
- Familiarity with Culturally Responsive Teaching and Universal Design for Learning is a plus
