Presqu'ile Winery is a memorable place to visit and work, was recently named among the top ten Tasting Rooms in the US by USA Today and is located in Santa Maria Valley AVA in Santa Barbara County. As a member of our service team you will be responsible for efficiently and effectively serving guests table-side at our indoor/outdoor estate Tasting Room, promoting the sale of estate wine, Wine Club Memberships, merchandise, tours and reservations. You will support our sales team in meeting monthly and annual Tasting Room sales goals through genuine hospitality, confident brand representation and exceptional guest relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct daily seated tastings, food and wine service and tours for guests, industry and VIP visitors. Articulate and bring to life key brand messages and selling points for each product. Continuously strive to improve the level of service and quality of education provided to all guests.
Confidently navigate restaurant POS. Experience with reservation software a plus.
Responsible for helping the DTC Manager achieve annual direct sales revenue goals and enhance customer loyalty for Presqu’ile wines through personalized guest experiences, compelling sales presentations and maintaining superior guest relations.
Maintain appearance, presentation and service standards of the Tasting Room at all times.
Effectively suggest and sell wine and wine club memberships to guests. Meeting daily, monthly and annual individual sales goals.
Accurately process all transactions, which include operating cash register and accounting of daily sales; processes returns, discounts, etc.
Confidently provide Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Central Coast tourist recommendations.
Assist with special events.
Represent winery at outside functions as needed.
Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of our winery as well as upholding wine industry standards.
Complete all maintenance, side work, opening and closing duties as directed by the DTC Manager.
Job Requirements:
Previous restaurant server or bartender, wine sales, retail management and, or event/catering experience a plus!
Excellent verbal communication skills, public speaking and presentation skills.
Must be able to juggle guests, service and sales confidently in high stress/high volume environment.
Knowledge of wine, viticulture, & wine making.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Must be at least 21 years of age, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
Must be able to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set-up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize dolly cart and other equipment to assist in moving heavy objects
Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Compensation includes: Hourly wage, tips, and club sign up bonuses.
