What are the responsibilities and job description for the Placing Judge position at Presque Isle Downs & Casino?
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Candidate must determine order of finish for all horses in race, Add/delete horses on all lists via computer, daily record of incoming and outgoing foal papers, report generating, assist in pre-race day scratching of horses, enter horse entries, complete official program indicating finish of horses, track conditions, handle and track attendance for each race day.
Candidate may be responsible for the clocking of horse(s) during morning workouts on an as-needed basis. Candidate will send workout results to Equibase and verify all horses have a workout within the past 60 days.
Candidate will contribute to the Racing Department team by overseeing and accomplishing all other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Candidate will have or gain knowledge of rules and regulations of thoroughbred horse racing. Candidate must also have knowledge of the PA Rules of Racing. Must be able to work flexible hours. Candidate is required to be able to obtain/maintain a Pennsylvania Racing License.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years experience in thoroughbred racing. Computer experience required. Racing office experience required.
