Position Summary
The Residential Coordinator assures that the Master Teacher Counselors, Master Teacher Counselor Aides, and Direct Support Professionals implement effective group functions and interventions that result in improved social/interpersonal functioning and high rates of successful program completion with return to home environments among the youth served. The Residential Coordinator will assure that the residential treatment staff adhere to all program prescribed policies, procedures, treatment methodologies, and therapeutic interventions that will improve adaptive social functioning, educational growth and high rates of successful activity completion for each youth.
Responsibilities
1. Group Services: To assure the implementation of group activity procedures result in high rates of social/interpersonal improvement, successful program completion, and return to home environments among youth served, the Residential Coordinator will:
- Assist Master Teacher Counselors, Master Teacher Counselor Aides, and Direct Support Professional in developing and implementing treatment plans to handle ongoing problems or crisis.
- Train new staff in program procedures, while developing and implementing ongoing staff training.
- Organize and implement special activities as needed.
- Provide direct instruction, supervision, and performance evaluation to the following basic group and individual treatment components:
- Group problem solving sessions, evaluations, and planning sessions.
- Basic daily group activities, community activities, and educational activities.
- Design, construction, and maintenance of the group’s projects and experiential trip activities.
- Daily health, hygiene, and clothing practices.
2. Safety: To assure the continuous safety and well-being of all students, the Residential Coordinator will:
- Directly supervise assigned youth via visual and auditory contact at all times unless otherwise arranged with staff or youth.
- Follow program designated procedures for all physical contact with youth during physical restraints, youth searches, youth illness and injury, including arranging necessary medical care, informing appropriate persons of the situation, documenting the injury/illness and actions taken, and so on.
- Assist other staff as needed in physical interventions to protect youth, staff, and property from damage.
- Detect and remediate any potentially dangerous environmental conditions, assuring adequate clothing and shelter for all weather conditions.
- Supervise the Supervisors’ and teacher/counselor staff participation in all of the above activities.
3. Compliance: To assure continued compliance with external licensing and regulatory agencies, the Residential Coordinator will:
- Assist the Program Director in administrative decision making regarding the development of new and revision of old program policies and procedures.
- Assure that Master Teacher Counselors, Master Teacher Counselor Aides, and Direct Support Professionals accurately complete all program accountability and documentation procedures in a timely fashion.
4. Quality: To assure the continued availability and monitoring of high quality treatment staff, the Residential Coordinator will assist the Program Director by:
- Maintaining comprehensive records of staff performance and sharing these with the Program Director.
- Conducting formal verbal and written evaluations of staff at six months of service, 12 months, and annually thereafter.
- Coordinate recruitment efforts to maintain staffing pattern for Master Teacher Counselors, Master Teacher Counselor Aides, and Direct Support Professionals.
5. Professional Development: To assure the continued professional growth of staff and of the Program Supervisors, the Residential Coordinator will:
- Assure that each staff member participates in at least one professional growth activity per school year such as, college courses, conference attendance, or presentation at a local, regional or national conference.

- Train staff in program procedures and policies.
- Develop and monitor action plans and professional development plans for Program Supervisors.
Qualifications
Education/Credentials/Licensure:
- Master’s Degree in human service field.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- American Sign Language (Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf).
Experience:
A minimum of three years experience with troubled children and their families
Clearances:
State Police/FBI per state regulations; Child Protection
Working Conditions
Physical Demands - Requires vision, speech, and hearing (with the exception of Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf) and a moderate to high level of physical activity including; sitting, standing, walking lifting and carrying as required. Must be able to meet the demands and complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
