Prestage Farms is seeking a skilled Wean Pig Driver to join our team. This role involves transporting wean pigs from the sow farms to the nursery farms in a safe and timely manner. The Wean Pig Driver will be responsible for the proper loading and unloading of live animals, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit. This position requires excellent driving skills and an understanding of animal handling practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions while ensuring animal safety.
- Comply with truck driving regulations and company policies.
- Wash and disinfect equipment after each load.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and conduct preventative maintenance.
- May require lifting of up to 50lbs when handling equipment or containers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum 1 year of driving experience, preferably with livestock.
- Clean driving record with no recent violations.
- Ability to adapt to unexpected situations (e.g., weather conditions).
- Willingness to submit to drug tests and background checks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and climb regularly.
- Must be able to handle repetitive motions and distinguish colors (for safety).
- Must have good hearing abilities for safety communication.
