Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations.
- Administers or requests diagnostic/laboratory testing as needed and evaluates results of same; refers to a higher level of care when abnormal results are identified.
- Educates and informs patients regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication risks, benefits, alternatives, and side effects, etc. to support health maintenance.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Prescribes medications for the management of conditions/disorders.
- Refers patients to crisis services for further evaluation and triages when suicidal and/or homicidal ideation is revealed, or other significant psychiatric problems are identified.
- Interprets data gathered and makes decisions regarding appropriate management and treatment of patients being seen from the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluations of a previously diagnosed and stabilized condition.
- Refers patients to primary care services when medical concerns exceed those that can be managed in a typical outpatient visit.
- Coordinates with primary care clinic team to effectively and efficiently manage patients identified needs.
- Coordinates care with patient’s external health care providers to support the patient’s quality of care.
- Works collaboratively with Medical Staff and Center staff to establish standards of care and ensures and monitors quality care.
- Participates in peer review process.
- Attends Medical Staff meetings regularly.
- Serves on Center committees and initiatives as needed, e.g., Mortality Review Committee, Privileging Committee, service improvement initiatives.
- Completes trainings as assigned.
- Adheres to confidentiality, HIPAA, and risk management policies and procedures including but not limited to completing Incident Reports.
- Participates in other functional work by participating in related projects, as applicable and directed by Center leadership.

Qualifications And Requirements
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- One year experience in providing care to individuals with behavioral health conditions preferred.
- Must possess basic computer skills for documentation and escribing purposes.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in conjunction with strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete multiple tasks.
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited nursing program with a certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- Must possess and maintain a current WV Nursing license.
- Must maintain a current collaborative agreement with WV Board of Nursing if required.
- Maintains current prescriptive authority and DEA.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and/or access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job duties.
- Must attain/maintain certification in Crisis Intervention and CPR/FA.
