Instructor to join our team and help empower the next generation of creators!
Position Overview: As a Coding Instructor for Kids, you will teach children (ages 6-14)
how to create their own interactive stories, games, and projects using coding concepts.
Your role will involve designing and delivering exciting, hands-on coding lessons in a fun,
supportive, and encouraging environment. You will be teaching students in small groups of
up to 6, ensuring personalized attention while maintaining a collaborative and engaging
atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Coding: Lead engaging and age-appropriate coding classes for small groups
(up to 6 students), guiding them through building their own projects using coding
languages like Scratch, Python, or JavaScript.
- Create Lesson Plans: Design creative, fun, and educational lesson plans that
teach coding concepts such as loops, conditional statements, variables, and logic.
- Foster Creativity: Encourage students to think critically and creatively while they
build their projects, ensuring they are excited to explore new ideas and coding
concepts.
- Provide One-on-One Support: Offer individual assistance to students within the
small group setting, helping them troubleshoot coding problems and guiding them
through challenges.
- Maintain a Positive Learning Environment: Create an environment that is both fun
and educational, promoting collaboration and teamwork among students.
- Monitor Progress: Track and assess student progress and provide feedback on
their projects, offering suggestions for improvement and further learning.
- Promote Digital Literacy: Teach basic computational thinking, problem-solving
skills, and the fundamentals of computer science in an accessible way.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Coding: Proficient in one or more coding languages (e.g., Scratch, Python, JavaScript, etc.).
- Teaching Experience (Preferred): Previous experience teaching or working with
children, particularly in coding or STEM subjects.
- Patience & Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex concepts in a
simple, fun, and engaging manner that children can easily understand.
- Passion for Education: Enthusiasm for technology, education, and inspiring young
learners.
- Adaptability: Comfort with adapting lessons to different age groups, skill levels,
and learning styles.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with the basics of computer science and digital tools.
- Reliable & Organized: Strong time-management skills and the ability to handle
small groups of students and multiple projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other coding platforms for kids (e.g., Tynker, Code.org, Blockly).
- Knowledge of online learning platforms and remote teaching tools (if applicable).
- A background in education, computer science, or a related field.
