Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Account Manager to lead their Workers' Compensation (WC) Claims Department. This individual will oversee a team of claims adjusters, analysts, and support staff, developing and implementing effective strategies for claims processing, compliance, and service delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in WC claims management, leadership experience, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure optimal results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the WC claims department, including overseeing claims adjusters, analysts, and support staff.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient WC claims processing, focusing on workflows, technology integration, and customer service.
- Provide feedback and collaborate with the WC claims system design team to improve the system's functionality for efficient claims adjudication.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
- Review and evaluate complex WC claims, providing guidance and making high-level decisions.
- Prepare reports and analyses for senior management, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Ensure timely and accurate settlement of WC claims while controlling costs and mitigating company risk.
- Develop training programs for claims team members to improve skills and maintain high service standards.
- Maintain and develop relationships with external partners, including vendors, legal counsel, and service providers.
- Collaborate with other departments, including underwriting, legal, and customer service, to improve cross-functional communication and operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous improvement within the department.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements that could affect claims management.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment to maintain high employee morale and retention.
- In-depth knowledge of WC insurance claims processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage, coach, and develop teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in complex WC claims scenarios.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven decision-making and reporting.
- Proficiency in WC claims management software and other relevant tools.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 10 years of experience in WC claims management or a related field, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
