What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide engineering, commissioning, and start-up support for distributed generation and storage projects.
- Lead factory testing of natural gas generator equipment with assistance from a Senior Controls Engineer.
- Configure and download all required software (ComAp, PLC, controls) for unit start-up and operation.
- On-site laptop connections for monitoring and storing test run data.
- Conduct tests at various loads, comparing results to OEM factory test sheets.
- Perform sound and emissions tests to ensure compliance.
- Ensure functional communication systems for monitoring and operational data.
- Verify that sensors for data transducers are calibrated and functional.
- Inspect equipment installations for proper setup by contractors.
- Instruct clients and staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Support project teams with equipment start-up, commissioning, service, and repair.
- Troubleshoot network configuration issues, firewalls, and cloud connectivity.
- Conduct testing, calibration, and adjustments on customer products.
- Deploy and validate PLC and microgrid control applications on local controllers.
- Troubleshoot issues in microgrid control panels and generator control panels, reading electrical schematics and control logic.
- Construct and test circuits and equipment.
- Analyze and interpret maintenance manuals for complex equipment issues.
- Collaborate with product support and engineering teams to resolve complex operational problems.
- Implement workaround solutions and modifications as needed.
- Maintain strong customer relationships, addressing all aspects of equipment operation, repair, and maintenance.
Experience You Will Need:
- Education: Two-year degree or technical certification in an electrical-related program, or 5 years of experience as a field or shop electrical technician.
- Solid knowledge of control circuits, PLCs, gas engine controls, switchgear controls, generator installation, solar inverters, and batteries.
- A willingness to learn from team members and continually develop your skills.
- Understanding of EGSA certification standards and their application.
- Knowledge of basic distribution protective relay testing, breaker function testing, and generator testing.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Prepared to travel 50% of the time, primarily to California, Wisconsin, and the Northeast.
