- Prepare court-ready state and federal pleadings, motions, and responses to motions for e-filing in Connecticut courts
- Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
- Handle high-volume discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests (e.g., interrogatories, requests for production, requests for disclosure, etc.) and follow up with clients and third parties
- Organize case-related documents and retrieve specific documents quickly (e.g., trial exhibits, deposition transcripts, discovery responses)
- Support defense litigation practice through phone conferences, meetings, hearings, and depositions; manage scheduling and case deadlines
- Assist with trial and arbitration preparation, including document organization and trial exhibits
- File and organize pleadings, motions, and related documents daily
- Maintain a daily calendar and prioritize deadlines effectively
- Enter billing time daily
- Maintain both paper and electronic files
- Assist with scheduling and calendar maintenance for depositions and meetings
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and vendors daily
- Prepare and revise correspondence, pleadings, and documents
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
- Minimum 3 years of recent paralegal experience in an insurance defense law firm
- Paralegal certification required; a 4-year college degree is a plus
- Proven knowledge of federal and state court filing requirements, including e-filing
- Ability to forecast and manage court filings and docket deadlines
- Strong understanding of document management, electronic calendaring, and PDF software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to work well within a team
- Solid verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for proofreading
