What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Prestige Medical Care?
Prestige Urgent Care is a primary and urgent care practice with three locations in Redding. We are a unique practice model, as we offer membership to our patients rather than billing insurance for our services. We are seeking to hire motivated team members who want to expand their career in the healthcare field to join our growing practice.
MEDICAL ASSISTANT
- Provides a variety of medical assistant tasks.
- Escort patients/members to exam rooms.
- Document current medications and drug allergies in EMR.
- Obtain vitals and document findings accurately.
- Prepare patient for visit with provider based on chief complaint, reason for visit.
- Perform routine, CLIA-waived lab procedures (including venipuncture); collect and prepare specimens for transport to lab. Instruct patients regarding preparation for special tests.
- Perform finger-sticks, skin test, throat swabs, EKG’s, medication administration (PO/IM/SQ) ear lavage and clinical procedures under direction of clinician.
- Prepare exam/procedure according to visit type. Assure proper consents are signed.
- Execute clinician orders, proper documentation in EMR system.
- Proper sanitization of exam rooms and work spaces.
- Prepare and send referrals for specialty and/or diagnostic studies.
- Give patients appropriate instructions for any scheduled testing.
- Notify patient with test results and treatment plan as directed by clinician.
- Assist other medical assistants with call backs, patient flow and check in to assure optimal patient care.
- Checking in patients, triage appropriately, take payments and answer busy phones.
- Assist in assigning faxes, scans and daily clinic duties, i.e. instrument sterilization, cleaning all surfaces, referral follow up and prior authorization for medications.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform additional duties.
