Key Duties
Landscaping & Site Preparation:
- Prepare and grade land for landscaping projects.
- Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
- Assist in the construction of walkways, retaining walls, and other landscape features.
- Install and repair irrigation systems.
- Operate landscaping equipment and machinery, including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work closely with team members, engineers, and construction professionals to complete projects on time.
- Adhere to landscape designs and specifications to ensure project accuracy.
Education & Experience:
- Previous experience in landscaping or construction preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of plants, irrigation systems, and landscaping techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for certain projects.
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Landscape Laborer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Constant physical effort, including standing for extended periods during an 8 hour work shift.
- Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, and lift at least 50 lbs frequently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Maintain constant awareness of multiple concurrent activities on the job site, including moving equipment and other workers.
- Walk frequently on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely.
- Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including excavations up to 20 feet deep using ladders or crawling.
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those a Landscape Laborer encounters while performing essential job functions:
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to high noise levels, grease, dust, and dirt, typical of construction projects.
- Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- May involve handling common construction substances, such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and asphalt.
